Ultrasound is a quick, safe, non-invasive procedure that provides a large amount of diagnostic information. Hope’s Ultrasound department provides outpatient scans to give primary veterinarians and specialists information about their patient and to help make the best choice for further care. Ultrasounds are performed by a board-certified veterinary internal medicine specialist utilizing advanced ultrasonography equipment.
Dr. Gasser graduated from North Carolina State University in 1999 and completed her internship, residency, and a year of lecturing at the University of Pennsylvania. She spent two years in private practice in New Jersey, and then joined The Hope Center in August of 2005. Since then she has served as IMED director, mentored interns and an IMED resident, been certified as a veterinary acupuncturist (Chi Institute), become a shareholder, and served several years on the Board of Directors of Hope. Her proudest achievement has been becoming a Mom in 2012. She lives in Haymarket with her husband, Dr. Matt Nicholson, her daughter, her two dogs, and her three cats.
Sarah has been with Hope since 2005 as well and worked closely with Dr. Gasser for many years. Sarah has always had a love of animals and she never seems to be in short supply in her home. In the veterinary field since 2002, she received her degree from Athens Technical College in 2005 and while in school she worked at an after-hours veterinary emergency hospital. In 2005 she uprooted from GA, moved to VA, and started working for Hope as an IMED lead tech. Sarah recently returned from a brief break to welcome her adorable son, Holden, to her family. When not at work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and her two dogs, Snoopy and Magnolia.
“We are hugely impressed and heartened by the level of detail. To know that our pet was petted and loved while he was scared and injured is a great comfort to us.”
